Besides
the SAS programming creditials mentioned in the document, Therneau
is the author of the survival analysis functions now included in
S-Plus. The first part of this document was written when S was
still VERY young (that version is now called "old S"). S has
since undergone two major overhauls. The update near the bottom
was written in 1993, and is more relevant. Of course things
continue to change.
