 A Comparison of
SAS and S, by Terry M. Therneau, Mayo Clinic.
Besides
the SAS programming creditials mentioned in the document, Therneau
is the author of the survival analysis functions now included in
SPlus. The first part of this document was written when S was
still VERY young (that version is now called "old S"). S has
since undergone two major overhauls. The update near the bottom
was written in 1993, and is more relevant. Of course things
continue to change.
