Entering Data into Minitab
1. Open Minitab.
2. There are at least three ways to enter
data.
-
You can enter data by hand. Simply type the
data in a column. Make sure that you start in the first white cell.
The grey cell above each column allows you to label the column with a variable
name.
-
You can enter data by coping it from another
location. Simply, copy the column of data and paste it into a column.
-
You can enter data from the CD in the back of
your book. Go to File, Open Worksheet and a new screen will appear.
-
So in order to enter the data from problem 1, select "ex1-11.mtw" and hit
open.
Common Problems when entering
data
-
If you accidently enter the variable name into
the first white cell, Minitab will think that you want to have text in
that column and will display a new column heading of "C1-T". If you do
not want to have text in that column, delete the text in the first white
cell and go to the file heading MANIP and select, Erase Variables. The
following Screen will appear.
Double Click on C1 so that it appears in the big box on the
right. Then, hit o.k.
