Wheaton College
Department of Mathematics and Computer Science

Assitant Professor (tenure-track)

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Wheaton College (Norton, MA) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of statistics who will serve as Director of Quantitative Analysis in our new Teaching and Learning Center. Candidates at higher levels will be considered. Requirements are a commitment to quality teaching, a strong desire to collaborate with colleagues in the social and natural sciences, scholarly activity and a Ph.D. in statistics expected by 8/31/02. Previous administrative experience is desirable. The new position in statistics adds to other new lines in computer science, molecular biology, geology and environmental chemistry. The Teaching and Learning Center is an outgrowth of our new curriculum and faculty and administration enthusiasm for a single entity to coordinate course development and transformations, interdisciplinary connections, pedagogical development and tutoring in writing and quantitative analysis. Wheaton College is a private liberal arts college of 1500 students situated between Boston  and Providence, RI. The normal annual teaching load is 5 courses; the role of Director of Quantitative Analysis comes with a course release. A pre-tenure semester leave at full pay heads the strong list of benefits. Wheaton has a vibrant tradition of innovative courses and pedagogy; we especially welcome applicants who are
energetic and creative in these areas. Wheaton College seeks educational excellence through diversity and strongly encourages applications from women and men from traditionally under-represented groups who would further enrich our community.
