Assistant Professor (tenure-track)
Description:
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Washburn University
invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning
August 2004. A doctorate in mathematics or statistics is preferred,
but an ABD candidate or a candidate who is recognized as an Associate or
Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (SOA) will also be considered.
A doctorate or sufficient progress on the SOA examination series is required
for tenure and promotion. The successful candidate will be expected
to work directly with the Actuarial Science program. Applicants must
demonstrate strong
teaching credentials and the potential for scholarly activities.
Teaching responsibilities include an average of twelve credit hours per
semester. Courses will include upper and lower division statistics,
lower division mathematics, and courses
related to Actuarial Science.
