Statistics Faculty Position
Applications are invited for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor starting August 2003. Requirements include a doctoral degree in statistics, demonstrated success or a strong potential for statistical and interdisciplinary research, and commitment to effective undergraduate and graduate teaching. The successful applicant will be expected to develop and teach a graduate level course in spatial statistics. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications. Mississippi State University, a land-grant institute, is intent on strengthening its research program in spatial statistics and remote sensing technology in the near future. Candidates with research interests in spatial statistics are especially welcomed, but candidates in any area of statistics are encouraged to apply. The department is housed in the College of Arts and Sciences, offers the Ph.D. degree in mathematical sciences, and is highly research oriented. Many opportunities exist for applicants with an interest in interdisciplinary research or consulting.
