Applications are invited for at least one tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor starting August 2003. Requirements include a doctoral degree in an area of the mathematical sciences, demonstrated success or a strong potential for research, and commitment to effective undergraduate and graduate teaching. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications. Mississippi State University, a land-grant institute, is intent on considerably strengthening its research program in computational mathematics and statistics in the near future. Candidates with research interests in numerical analysis or spatial statistics are especially welcomed, but candidates in any area of the mathematical sciences are encouraged to apply. The department is housed in the College of Arts and Sciences, offers the Ph.D. degree in mathematical sciences, and is highly research oriented. Many opportunities exist for applicants with an interest in interdisciplinary research or consulting.
