Biostatistician (Research Fellow)
The Biostatistician serves as a consulting statistician in the Biostatistics Core of the Cancer Center, and in particular, for the TTURC. The primary duty involves collaboration with investigators to address research questions: designing experiments, estimating sample size; authoring statistical components of written materials; conducting statistical analyses, assisting with interpretation, recommending presentation methods; reviewing written materials prior to submission. In addition, the Biostatistician directs database development and data entry for the TTURC studies.
Qualifications: A Masterís degree in Biostatistics or Statistics, familiarity
with spreadsheets and relational databases, and knowledge of SAS or S-plus
required. The successful candidate will demonstrate: the ability to work
independently; the ability to establish and maintain productive working
relationships with other statisticians, basic scientists, and clinicians;
and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Applicants with
research or consulting experience, especially in microarray study design
and analysis techniques, are preferred. This is an entry level position;
candidates with less than 3 years of experience are preferred. This position
is not available to individuals possessing a Ph.D. The successful applicant
must be able to demonstrate authorization to work in the United States
at the University of Minnesota by the start date.
