Candidates are invited to apply for tenure-track and non-tenure track faculty positions in the Department of Biostatistics in the School of Graduate Studies at the Medical College of Georgia, Georgia's health sciences university. Two positions are open: Assistant Professor (Position No. 48755) and Associate Professor (Position No. 48754). Rank is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Responsibilities will include teaching in the graduate program, consulting and collaborative research with investigators in public health, biomedical, and clinical sciences, and conducting methodological research.
We seek candidates who will contribute to the growth of the newly approved
departmental graduate program, which will offer a Masters of Science in
Biostatistics beginning in the fall of 2005. Applicants should hold a Ph.D.
or equivalent in biostatistics, statistics, bioinformatics, or a related
discipline. A strong background of
extramural funding is valued, as is experience in teaching and graduate student mentorship.
Skills must include a high level of ability to communicate both orally and in writing with others, in particular researchers actively performing complex research. Successful applicants must be willing to work as a team member in a creative but supportive role with basic and clinical scientists. The applicants must also have skills to direct and implement computer-based statistical analyses using the SAS computer programs. (Knowledge of other statistical programs, e.g., SPSS will be considered an asset.) Successful candidates will be expected to be supported in part by extramural grant funding within 3 years.
