The Jackson Laboratory


There is a regular, full-time position available as a Biostatistician in Computational
Biology Resource. The incumbent will possess the skills to quickly understand biological
problems and formulate solutions by developing and implementing statistical and
computational algorithms. Experience with statistical methods for gene mapping and
familiarity with genetics concepts are crucial. The incumbent will also provide advice and
training on the general application of experimental design and statistical methods in
research laboratories and should be familiar with statistical software and programming
packages (e.g., SAS, R, S-plus, MATLAB, StatView, C++).  The successful candidate
will be creative, independent and self-motivated.  Advanced degrees in Statistics and
Genetics are desired. The ability to effectively communicate with scientific staff is
absolutely critical.  Previous relevant work experience and demonstrated consultation
abilities are preferred.
