 Assistant or Associate Professor

 The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, SECTION OF BEHAVIORAL STATISTICS, DEPARTMENT OF BEHAVIORAL SCIENCE is accepting applications for two faculty positions at the Assistant or Associate Professor level (one tenure track and one non-tenure track) in biostatistics or quantitative psychology.

 Qualifications include a doctoral degree in biostatistics, quantitative psychology or a closely related field. Successful candidates will be expected to collaborate with investigators in the Department of Behavioral Science on a wide variety of behavioral science research projects related to cancer prevention and pursue an independent program of methodologic research. Appropriate areas of methodologic research focus include but are not limited to longitudinal data, structural equation modeling, correlated data, time series analysis, missing data and measurement error.

 The Department of Behavioral Science provides an unusually rich opportunity for collegial interaction and an exceptional infrastructure for behavioral and methodologic research. Areas of behavioral science research include smoking prevention and cessation, cancer screening, quality of life of cancer survivors, psycho-oncology, stress management and immune function, and physical activity. Our innovative interventions utilize state-of-the-art technology including CD-ROMs, the internet and hand-held computers. Multidisciplinary opportunities in biostatistics, quantitative psychology, clinical, community and laboratory

settings are readily available. The Department of Behavioral Science currently comprises 11 tenure-track faculty whose interests cover the spectrum from primary cancer prevention to quality of life and survivorship. The Section of Behavioral Statistics consists of 5 statisticians (2 faculty), 5 data managers and 1 programmer. M. D. Anderson Cancer Center is located within Houston's Texas Medical Center, the largest medical center in the world. Houston is the fourth-largest city in the United States, with dynamic cultural and recreational resources and an affordable cost of living. Salary is commensurate with experience.
