The Department of Nutrition at Harvard School of Public Health is seeking applications for a full-time statistician.
Harvard School of Public Health and Muhimbili Medical College of Health Sciences in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, are jointly conducting several large, longitudinal epidemiologic studies as well as multiple randomized clinical trials concerning nutrition and HIV/AIDS and associated health outcomes. The statistician will work with the senior statistician and other senior investigators to derive variables in SAS, clean data, coordinate ongoing database tasks, perform analyses on large complex datasets, produce tables and graphs in publication quality form, present results to senior investigators, and perform other duties as assigned.
The statistician will work at either location in Boston or Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Required Skills include related Masters Degree in Biostatistics or Statistics, with 1-3 years experience preferred. Requires Knowledge of SAS necessary, with SAS macro language, SAS graphics, and SAS Proc IML, knowledge of MS Access or Visual Basic is a plus. Database programming in MS Access, Foxpro, or related software is desirable and another component of the duties. Excellent technical, computer, analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills, strong interpersonal, service and communication skills, and an ability to work independently and under supervision and as part of a team are all components of this position.
