Assistant Professor (tenure track)
The Department of Statistics at The George Washington University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin in Fall 2004. This position seeks candidates with strong training in probability and statistics and demonstrated interests in developing statistical methodology for genetics, bioinformatics, proteomics, and related applications. The College of Arts and Sciences is making a vigorous effort to promote the biological sciences, and this position in Statistics is one of eight in genetics and related areas.
The Department of Statistics at The George Washington University is the first Department of Statistics in a college of arts and sciences in USA, and is well known for its teaching and research accomplishments. The Department, and the University provide a stimulating academic environment and collaborative research opportunities. The Department has 14 full-time faculty members, and offers the B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Statistics; M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Biostatistics and in Epidemiology, in collaboration with the School of Public Health and Health Services; and a Graduate Certificate in Survey Design and Data Analysis.
