Tier I Canada Research Chair in Applied Mathematics or Applied Statistics

The University of Guelph seeks applications or nominations to fill
a Tier I Canada Research Chair (CRC) position in applied
mathematics or applied statistics. The Chair will be expected to
actively participate in the graduate program, which currently
emphasizes: Biomathematics, Biostatistics, Dynamical Systems,
Linear Models and Computational Statistics, Numerical Analysis,
Optimization,  Survival Analysis.   The Department currently has
24 faculty, offering strong teaching and research programs to the
PhD degree. Research programs are enhanced by faculty and
graduate student participation in the Fields Institute for Research in
Mathematical Sciences. The Department anticipates developing
strong links with the Perimeter Institute. In addition, faculty are
active participants of several projects in the Mathematics of
Information Technology and Complex Systems (MITACS)
research network and the Shared Hierarchical Academic Research
Computing Network (SHARCNET).  Further information

The Canada Research Chair program was established by the
Government of Canada to enable Canadian universities to achieve
the highest levels of research excellence in the global, knowledge-
based economy. The seven-year renewable tier I Chairs will be
filled by outstanding experienced  individuals acknowledged by
their peers as world leaders in their research fields. Further

The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a vigorous
research program, to develop a strong graduate program and to
teach, at a reduced level, both graduate and undergraduate courses.
