Visiting Faculty position

The Department of Statistics at The George Washington University invites
applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position starting in Fall
2003. Primary responsibilities are teaching, and research. Expected teaching
load is 2 courses in Fall and 3 in Spring. Preferences will be given to
candidates with strong potential and interest in research collaboration
with the department faculty. Applicants are encouraged to visit our website

 The Department of Statistics at The George Washington University is the
first Department of Statistics in a college of arts and sciences in USA,
and is well known for its teaching and research accomplishments. There is
a stimulating academic environment as well as opportunities for collaboration
with other researchers. The Department has 13 full-time faculty members, and
offers the B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Statistics; M.S. and Ph.D. degrees
in Biostatistics and in Epidemiology, in collaboration with the School of
Public Health and Health Services; and a Graduate Certificate in Survey Design
and Data Analysis. The Department also teaches statistics to several hundred
students from other departments every semester.

 The Departmentís location in the nationís capital offers unique cultural and
professional opportunities. Many major Government agencies, international
organizations, research institutions, and companies located in Washington, DC
offer excellent opportunities for applied research collaboration and securing
research funding. Thus, statisticians with interest in research collaboration
should find our location and the position attractive.

Applicants should have a doctoral degree in Statistics or related field, and
demonstrated excellence in teaching and research. Review of applications will
