Service, an international leader in the field of educational measurement, has
challenging opportunities available for college graduates. The Data
Analyst position involves participating in data analysis activities in
support of education-related research projects sponsored by ETS and external
clients. Typical duties include preparation and quality control of research
databases; developing, modifying and documenting statistical
analysis software; carrying out statistical procedures under the direction
of senior project staff; and assisting with interpretation and presentation
of analysis results. Data analysts will also develop original software
as well as working with existing ETS-developed modules and
commercial software products. The work is carried out primarily in
Fortran, with ETS's proprietary statistical system, on a variety of
platforms including mainframes, PC's and UNIX systems; other software
including SPSS, SAS, Excel/Access, and S-Plus may be used on occasion.
Multiple positions are available at different staff levels and thus the relevant experience requirements range from six months to four years. A bachelor's or master's degree in statistics or computer science, or in a related field is required. Strong programming background, preferably in Fortran, and coursework in statistics are essential. Expertise in graphics and spreadsheet software and experience in analyzing data using statistical/psychometric techniques are highly desirable.
