The Institute of Statistics and Decision Sciences (ISDS) at Duke University invites applications and nominations for Senior and Postdoctoral Fellowships, and Visiting Faculty positions, for 2003 and beyond. The information below is also available, with links and additional details, at the ISDS web site

SAMSI (www.samsi.info) is the new national Statistical and Applied Mathematical Sciences Institute, a research institute dedicated to basic research in statistical and mathematical sciences. We seek applications for a Duke SAMSI Fellowship in association with the SAMSI program on Stochastic Computation (late August 2002-May 2003). See the SAMSI web site for full details of the program. The Duke-SAMSI Fellow will be appointed at Duke, have a partial teaching role in ISDS and be a central figure in the research on the Stochastic Computation Program. We seek applicants from individuals with mainstream research activities in the theory, development and application of simulation methods in statistics, including such areas as MCMC, perfect sampling, sequential simulation, and so forth, and with an established teaching record. Terms and conditions of appointment are negotiable. Enquiries should be made directly to: merlise@isds.duke.edu
ISDS has vacancies for visiting and postdoctoral faculty for 2002/03. Appointment may be made for periods of one to three years, and some appointments will be made in connection with the SAMSI programs on Stochastic Computation, Inverse Problems and Environmental Statistics.
Successful candidates will have strong skills and interests in teaching and research interests that contribute to the intellectual life of ISDS and intersect the SAMSI program research areas.

Inquiries and applications, in terms of a CV and letter of application, should be sent by e-mail to Marsha Harrison, marsha@stat.duke.edu

Visit the ISDS web site at http://www.isds.duke.edu for further information.

Applications from qualified women and minority candidates are particularly encouraged. Duke University is an EO/AA Employer.
