The Houston Center for Quality of Care and Utilization Studies (HCQCUS) consists of the Veterans Affairs Health Services Research and Development Centers of Excellence (one of 13 nationwide), and the Baylor College of Medicine Section of Health Services Research. Over the last 12 years, the HCQCUS has grown into a research powerhouse, continuing itís mission of impacting health and health care by conducting and translating outstanding research and by developing influential leaders in health outcomes, quality, access, utilization, and costs. The Houston Center supports 32 independent investigators with expertise in statistics, measurement, psychology, epidemiology, medical ethics, health economics, and sociology who work together on multidisciplinary teams to ultimately improve the quality and efficiency of patient care.
This position involves independent methodological research and collaborative work with Health Services Researchers. HCQCUS has currently identified four major areas of research interest, which include Health Decision-Making, Chronic Care Models, Implementation and Diffusion of Research Findings, and Health Disparities. These areas, each led by an Associate Director, reflect our scientific goal of achieving excellence in research to improve the quality of health care delivery. The incumbent will be expected to collaborate with researchers in the Center, providing statistical expertise in grants writing, data analysis and manuscript preparation. No formal teaching is required in this position.
Candidates must be US CITIZENS. To be interviewed, a candidate should have a Ph.D.in Statistics or Biostatistics.
