Assistant Professor of Statistics (tenure-track)

 The Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Alaska Fairbanks
invites applications for a tenure track position in statistics. The successful
candidate will have a PhD in Statistics, or equivalent.  Applicants must be
eligible to work in the USA.  Duties will include teaching, research and
service.  Evidence of recent research and instruction are preferred.
Publication in refereed journals is an expectation for tenure.  Applicants
with research interest in any field of statistics will be considered.  This
position will involve teaching 2 courses per semester, at the graduate and/or
undergraduate level, in Statistics.  Summer teaching assignments and funded
collaborative work with research institutes are commonly available.  The
position is open until filled; files first reviewed January 21, 2003.

 The University of Alaska Fairbanks is the major research institution in the
University of Alaska system. The Department of Mathematical Sciences is
comprised of programs in Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science. The
Department currently has four Statistics faculty positions.  UAF offers BS and
MS degrees in Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science, along with a PhD
in Mathematics.   Fairbanks is a modern city with approximately 84,000
residents located in Interior Alaska between the Alaska and Brooks mountain
ranges and is noted for the scope of available outdoor activities in all
