General Duties/Description: The Research Consultant will be responsible for statistical consulting and collaboration, which includes statistical design as well as creating, documenting, maintaining, and analyzing data sets for researchers at the Center for AIDS Research(CFAR) and its affiliates. CFAR is a world leader in research in the area of HIV/AIDS and there are a large variety of projects that this position will be exposed to.
Responsibilities: The Research Consultant will develop statistical and scientific resources for clinical, biological, prevention and behavioral AIDS research, as well as perform statistical analyses of data for manuscripts leading to publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Requirements: Bachelors degree in statistics or biostatistics and a minimum of two years experience in a biostatistical consulting environment. Working knowledge of the analysis of longitudinal data and of generalized linear models such as logistic and poisson regression. Familiarity with S-PLUS, R, or Stata in a Unix-based environment. Must be able to work independently as well as responsibly on multiple projects. Equivalent education/experience may substitute for stated requirements.
Desirable: Master's degree in statistics or biostatistics and experience in cleaning and analyzing data. Experience with SPSS or SAS, MS Word, and Excel under MS Windows.
Conditions of Employment: The position has stringent deadlines and seasonal peaks of activity, resulting in work which goes beyond 40 hours/week in the 2 months before the NIH grant deadlines.
Salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
