Research Positions in Social Statistics

http://www.socstats.soton.ac.uk

Applications are invited for two research positions in EU-funded projects aimed at development of small area estimation, sampling variance estimation and statistical disclosure control methodologies in sample surveys and censuses.

These are all large-scale projects involving research collaboration with a number of National Statistical Institutes as well as with other academic institutions in the UK and in Europe.

Both posts are for two years with salaries in the range 16,775 to 19,482, according to qualifications and experience. Candidates should have, or expect to obtain shortly, a PhD in statistics, or be in a position to undertake research at PhD level.

A sound background in statistics and a high degree of competence in statistical data analysis will be essential, while knowledge of sample survey theory is desirable.

The positions are available immediately, and the Department would ideallylike to have the successful applicants commence work by June 30 2001.
