Assistant or Associate Professor level

Sam Houston State University is conducting a search for two or more tenure track positions at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in mathematics or statistics. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Mathematics or Statistics, excellent communications skills, and a strong commitment to quality teaching, scholarly and research activities. Excellence in teaching is required at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Preference will be given to candidates whose interests complement those of current faculty.

Sam Houston State University has approximately 13,000 students and 500 faculty. The Department of Mathematics, Computer Science and Statistics has a faculty of 39, 25 of whom are tenured or tenure track. In the mathematics program, the BA, BS, MA and MS degrees are offered. Students may also specialize in mathematics in the Master of Education degree. In the statistics program, at the undergraduate level, students can have a minor in statistics and at the graduate level the MS degree is offered. The review will begin November 2000 and will continue until the positions are filled. Salary and rank are commensurate with experience and qualifications. The positions begin August 20, 2001.
