Louisiana State University (LSU) invites nominations and applications for the position of Chair of the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering. The Department consists of ten full-time and three part-time faculty members and offers B.S.and M.S. degrees, and a Ph.D. through the College - wide Engineering Science program. Research thrust areas include information technologies, production systems, operations research, intelligent manufacturing and ergonomics. Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering is one of seven engineering departments in the LSU College of Engineering. The LSU campus is located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in close proximity to major petrochemical and aerospace industries. Baton Rouge is a leading petrochemical, financial and industrial city with a metropolitan area population of more than 500,000.
The Chair reports to the Dean of the College of Engineering and provides intellectual leadership to the Department, promotes quality and academic excellence, facilitates cross-disciplinary interactions and represents the department to the academic and industrial communities at large. Candidates must have an earned doctorate in industrial or manufacturing systems engineering or a closely related area, and must be qualified for a tenured faculty position at the full professor rank. Nationally recognized candidates who have an active interest in promoting industry /university relations and have a strong ongoing program of research, with a demonstrated ability to bring diverse groups together to attain departmental objectives are encouraged to apply.
