Statistical Assistant:Statistical Associate

The Statistical Assistant position involves entry-level statistical programming and data analysis activities in support of a variety of special projects and operational processes, including analysis of test questions and tests, analysis of scores from both paper-based and computer -based tests and research in educational measurements and statistics for one or more ETS testing programs.

Statistical Associates are involved in similar kinds of projects and operational processes, but at a more advanced level.

Both Statistical Assistants and Statistical Associates are also responsible for varying degrees of non-programming activities, such as assisting in coordinating statistical operations, preparing procedures and documentation and using ETS proprietary statistical utilities and systems.

A bachelor's degree in Psychology, Decision Sciences, Mathematics or a related field is required. Experience in using statistical computing environments and tools (e.g., SAS) is required. Course work in statistics and computer sciences, knowledge of current information technologies and experience in using computers to perform data analysis are highly desirable.

Data Analyst

Challenge, growth and the opportunity to make a difference at Educational Testing Service in Princeton New Jersey. Our Research Division is seeking data analysts to join the Center for Data Analysis, Statistics, and Technology Research. You will participate in data analysis activities in support of education-related research projects sponsored by ETS and external clients. Typical duties include preparation and quality control of research databases; developing, modifying and documenting statistical analysis software; carrying out statistical procedures under the direction of senior project staff; and assisting with interpretation and presentation of analysis results. You will develop original software products. The work is carried out primarily in Fortran, with the ETS proprietary statistical system, on a variety of platforms including mainframes, PCs and UNIX systems; other software including SPSS, SAS, Excel/Access, and S-Plus may be used on occasion.

Requires a Bachelors or Masters Degree in Statistics or Computer Science, or a related field. Strong programming background, preferably in Fortran, and coursework in statistics are essential. Graphics and spreadsheet software expertise is desirable. Experience in analyzing data using statistical/psychometric techniques is highly desirable.

Technology Coordinator/Research Systems Specialist: Natural Language Processing Educational Testing Service (developers of the SAT, GRE, GMAT, TOEFL and more) has an immediate opening in our Princeton, NJ campus. This is an opportunity to join colleagues engaged in educational research, be personally responsible for specific research projects and to grow professionally.

You will be responsible for the investigation, evaluation, adaptation and enhancement of emerging technologies, through independent research or collaboration, in natural language processing research for purposes of automated text analysis in English language

1. Investigate and evaluate conventional and emerging hardware and software technologies. Modify and/or extend these technologies as needed to suit corporate or client needs and requirements.

2. Assume responsibility for research projects, establish and monitor schedules and budgets, and assign workloads.

3. Identify research objectives and assist in the identification of corporate objectives for the use of technology. Define steps necessary to meet those objectives.

4. Design, prototype and/or implement innovative systems, procedures, and algorithms using conventional and emerging hardware, software, and peripheral device technologies. Deliver fully and accurately functioning prototypes and systems in a timely manner.

5. Develop proposals for projects and experiments involving new technologies, justify funding from internal sources and contribute to proposals seeking external funding.

6. Disseminate information about new technologies and trends in technology by developing and conducting technology workshops, and contribute to newsletters and other forums.

7. Prepare and present demonstrations of new technologies for staff and external clients.

8. Attend and present papers at outside seminars and conferences.

Education And Experience:

A Masters or Ph.D. degree in computer science and an interest in natural language processing or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired are necessary.

Measurment Statistician

Lead Research Data Analyst

Lead Research Data Analysts consult with internal/external clients and Research development staff in the planning and execution of medium to large scale data analysis systems using modern data analysis methodologies to solve complex data analysis problems.

Responsibilities:

1. Consult on the development of technologies for executing medium to large scale, complex research and development data analyses projects/methodologies.

2. Design and implement data analysis procedures using data analysis technologies and complete research and development data analyses.

3. Confer with senior data analysis and other internal/external professional staff on data analysis procedures and problems and develop solutions.

4. Identify unusual data analysis situations and problems and develop solutions.

5. Coordinate large-scale complex projects in research and development.

6. Develop new technologies for data analysis, statistical computing and numerical analysis; design and prepare technical reports and user guides for complex data analysis systems

7. Monitor cost and resource estimates to complete complex data analyses against approved funding levels.

8. Recommend for purchase new hardware/software/data analysis methodologies to support research system development.

9. Supervise, train, monitor, assign and review the work of assigned personnel, and assist in the selection, training, recommendation, and evaluation of staff.

10. Assist in the preparation of proposals, response to proposals or requests for complex systems projects.

Required Experience And Education:

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or Statistics or a closely related field is necessary.
