The Department of Statistics and Demography in Odense, Denmark, invites applications for a position as Assistant or Associate Professor of Mathematical Statistics under the Faculty of Science and Engineering. The department is interdisciplinary and cross-faculty with research groups in biostatistics, mathematical statistics and econometrics.
Application, salary, etc.:
The successful applicant is expected to have a well-documented research record in either model based statistical inference or some other area of mathematical statistics compatible with current research interests in the department. The position involves teaching and consulting in the Faculty of Science and Engineering up to and including the Ph.D. level. The applicant must be capable of teaching a broad spectrum of statistical topics including elementary statistics for biology students. The department is currently developing web-based teaching material, and we plan to offer web-based courses for distance learning in the near future.
Applications will be assessed by an expert committee. Applicants will receive the evaluation about themselves. Assistant Professor is a 3-year training position with scientific qualifications that equal the Ph.D. level. Associate Professor is a position that requires qualifications equivalent to those obtained through employment as an Assistant Professor. If the successful applicant has not documented teaching experience corresponding to Assistant Professor level, the applicant will be engaged on trial for the first 18 months. Applicants are requested to state whether they are applying for the position as Assistant Professor or Associate Professor.
The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
