The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Center for
Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, Division of Reproductive
Health, Statistics and Computer Resources Branch in Atlanta, Georgia, is
seeking qualified candidates to fill a Mathematical Statistician position.
The incumbent is responsible for applying expertise in research design
and statistics to the collection, compilation, and analysis of data in
a variety of reproductive health areas. Responsibilities include planning,
designing, and implementing projects related to the research and policy
objectives of the Division of Reproductive Health (DRH). The incumbent
is involved in the development of research proposals; continuous monitoring
of the compliance with project specifications by providers of data and
data processing personnel during all study phases; recommends changes or
creative solutions to problems encountered; coordinates multiple phases
of data collection, preparation, and presentation; and performs statistical
analysis of large and complex projects. Incumbent serves as technical consultant
and contact person for statistical, mathematical, and epidemiologic issues
to Federal, state, local, and international health agencies with whom DRH
has contractual or collaborative research agreements. Incumbent designs
studies and supplies standard and customized statistical computer techniques
to data collection and analysis. Formulates and modifies innovative modeling
and statistical techniques, including the development of extensive mathematical
equations, to resolve complex statistical problems and to analyze and interpret
information and data.
This is a permanent, full-time position. U.S. citizenship is required
and candidates must meet U.S. Office of Personnel Management qualification
requirements including specific educational coursework. Candidates should
have the required education and/or experience as described in the announcement
listed below. Salary ranges from $50,552 to $78,146 and is commensurate
with qualifications. The selected candidate will be eligible for a full
benefits package, including health insurance, life insurance, retirement
and vacation and sick leave.
