Position Title: Biostatistician

Duties & Responsibilities: • Provide statistical analysis support for research & publication activities within a variety of studies and registries managed by the Heart Institute • Actively collaborate with researchers and study teams on new studies, including design, planning, study operations, data validation and preparation, analysis and presentation of results • Develop, maintain and document analysis data sets and programs • Research, implement and/or develop appropriate tools for managing and analyzing data • Actively review and implement contemporary statistical methods as appropriate • Organize, present and interpret findings, including assumptions and scope of inference • Assist with writing and critical review of grant proposals, manuscripts abstracts and presentations • Assist with didactic training opportunities in advanced methods for researchers

Position Qualifications: • PhD in biostatistics or statistics • Experience with clinical/health services data and large data sets (millions of records) desirable • Strong theoretical understanding of advanced methods including hierarchical/multilevel models • In-depth experience with SAS, macro development, SQL and R/S-Plus (MPlus/Bugs desirable) • Ability to independently determine appropriate methods, including self-study of new methods and implementation or development of new algorithms/code/etc. as needed • Demonstrated excellent organizational skills and attention to detail • Demonstrated ability to program efficiently and generically • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate statistical concepts to non-statisticians
