Professor in the UCLA Schools of Medicine and Public Health looking for a well-trained, reliable statistician/analyst to conduct advanced data management and statistical analysis for health services research studies, including a three-year, NIDA-funded evaluation of the federal Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act using insurance claims data.
Position Title:
Principal Statistician
Duties & Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities: Clean and link complex insurance claims, eligibility and benefits databases to create analytic files Write code to construct new variables Develop database documentation and compile all documentation related to completed analyses Conduct sophisticated statistical analyses as part of reports, presentations, and journal manuscripts using SAS, Stata and any other necessary statistical software Assist with interpretation and write-up of statistical results. Supervise staff members in preparation of tables of statistical results Co-author research manuscripts, with a focus on data and statistical methods
Position Qualifications:
Qualifications: Masters or doctoral degree in statistics, biostatistics, or related field Proficiency with SAS and Stata Extensive understanding of research design and its implementation Expertise in advanced multivariate statistical methods Good verbal and written communication skills in English At least 1-3 years of experience with data management and statistical analysis Experience managing and analyzing insurance claims and eligibility databases highly desirable Ability to conceptualize desired tables and graphs and create them from raw data Ability to summarize results of statistical analyses for collaborators and for peer-reviewed publication Ability to perform duties and tasks independently Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other staff members and faculty
