Position Title: Research Group Leader in Clinical Trial Translational Statistics

Duties & Responsibilities: We are looking to make a new strategic appointment within ICR-CTSU (a Cancer Research UK funded, NCRI Accredited, UKCRC Registered academically based clinical trials unit which develops and conducts high quality non-commercial cancer trials) to lead the translational statistics team, undertaking analyses, providing oversight and innovation and developing methodological research relating to the novel biomarkers underpinning the design and analysis of many of our cancer clinical trials. ICR-CTSU’s main interests and areas of expertise are phase II/III randomised trials that evaluate new drug treatments and technologies (including radiotherapy) and/or utilise biomarker driven designs to clinically qualify putative predictive biomarkers. Clinical areas of focus are breast, urological and head and neck cancers with further trials in melanoma, sarcoma and ovarian cancer. The successful applicant will be responsible for further developing an area of existing strength within ICR-CTSU, providing expert leadership in relation to biomarker analysis of contemporary cancer trials, independent innovation and intellectual contribution wider than ICR-CTSU trials.

Position Qualifications: The successful applicant will have statistical expertise focusing on the challenges of biomarker type data (need for validation, reliability, repeatability, variability, transformation) and a track record in research as evidenced by the quality of publications and success in obtaining grant income. You should have a PhD or equivalent experience in clinical trials and / or biomarker research, be effective when working in a collaborative multi-disciplinary environment and be experienced in staff management.
