Motus Global

Company Information: The true mission of Motus is to bring the world of motion capture to the mass market. At the root of this mission is leveraging technology to integrate high-end 3D biomechanical analysis with consumer-level products. The Motus Global biomechanics R&D lab, based in Bradenton, FL, USA, is primarily responsible for collecting motion capture data on athletes performing a variety of movements. These movements include very basic motions (such as those used as part of medical screening processes and fitness training) as well as sports-specific motions (such as golf swings and baseball pitches). The biomechanical data generated from these movements can be used in an assortment of analyses. These include, but are not limited to: comparisons of an individual against a larger group of athletes, comparisons of athletes of one sport, gender, age, etc. to another, comparisons of an individual before and after and training intervention, correlations of one movement pattern to another, correlations among joint segments within a movement, and correlation of pathomechanical patterns to injury risk.

Position Title: Director of Analytics

Duties & Responsibilities: The role of the director of analytics will be to first establish an efficient way to store and manage these large sets of data. Next, the director will need to work with the Motus team members and its business partners to develop strategies for execution of these statistical analyses. The director will also be encouraged to explore novel ways to analyze the motion capture data in order to provide the best product(s) to Motus Global’s clients.

Position Qualifications: • Master’s degree (PhD preferred) in statistics, applied mathematics, or associated field • Fluency in MATLAB, R, and other modern statistical software packages • Experience with dynamical systems theory, functional data analysis, principal components analysis, and other related advanced statistical techniques • Passion for sports and applications of statistics to sports motions • Knowledge of anatomy, kinesiology, and/or biomechanics is desirable
