The Department was founded in 1959 and offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees. It has 15 full-time faculty positions with research interests covering a wide range of topics in both theory and applications. The Department’s annual Applied Statistics in Agriculture Conference just completed its 25th consecutive year and draws over 100 participants from around the country. Currently there are about 55 graduate students with about one third to one half working toward a PhD. The majority of graduate students are supported with teaching assistantships. Position Title:
Instructors (up to two positions)
Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in statistics (that may include a combination of on campus and online offerings), supervision of graduate teaching assistants, directing MS students, guiding undergraduate research projects, and serving on departmental committees. The typical teaching load will consist of 3 courses per semester with possible adjustments based on level of research advising, consulting, and publications. Position Qualifications:
Required qualifications include a PhD in Statistics or in a related area with PhD research in statistics or biostatistics by the start of employment. A demonstrated excellence or potential for excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and lower level graduate statistics courses is essential. Preferred qualifications include experience as an independent instructor of one or more sections of a statistics or mathematics course at the college/university level, and a record of publications or submissions for publication related to consulting or collaborative projects or experience with statistical consulting.
Salary Range:
65k for 9 month appointment

The appointment is a term appointment and is contingent upon continuing availability of funding and the need for the above services. There is a possibility the position may be converted to a regular instructor position in the future.
