Position Title: Biostatistician

Duties & Responsibilities: Lead Biostatistician for the Bioinformatics Core at the Gladstone Institutes. The focus of this individual’s work will be on providing statistical support to the Gladstone’s world-class biomedical research scientists in the form of collaborations and consultations. The statistician will analyze a variety of data types including behavioral, survival, microarray and high-throughput sequence data. There will be opportunities for methods development work, and writing technical sections of grants and manuscripts. The biostatistician will work closely with scientists to formulate testable hypotheses, design experiments, implement approaches in computer code, perform statistical analyses, and report results.

Position Qualifications: Master’s or PhD in Statistics/Biostatistics or related field. At least 3 years of experience with statistical analysis of large biological datasets using R (or SAS) is required and knowledge of a scripting language (e.g., Perl, Python) is preferred. The successful candidate will have a strong background in biostatistical analysis and statistical programming, experimental design, quantitative analysis of biological systems, as well as a demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with all types and levels of internal and external collaborators.
