The Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI) in Amsterdam is a Comprehensive Cancer Center combining a hospital and research laboratories in a single independent organization. The Biostatistics Group within the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics concentrates on methodological and statistical research and is closely involved with several international epidemiological studies on cancer incidence and exposure to chemicals and radiation. The group also provides statistical expertise to clinicians and other investigators on diverse topics from all areas of biomedical cancer research. Positions are available for two fulltime biostatisticians, both functions with their own focus (for the second function, see vacancy number 401).

Biostatistician (vacancy 404)
Duties & Responsibilities:
You are expected to provide state-of-the-art statistical expertise to researchers and doctors in the Institute and the hospital as an active and assertive statistical collaborator and consultant. This involves developing and implementing diverse statistical approaches to cover a wide range of topics including the design and analysis of epidemiologic studies and clinical trials, the identification of prognostic and predictive biomarkers, sample size calculations, risk prediction, as well as animal and in vitro experiments. Some teaching is also involved.
Position Qualifications:
We are looking for an enthusiastic, hands-on, and proactive statistician with excellent English communication skills, who has the ability to facilitate high quality science. Other requirements are: (i) a Master or PhD degree in (bio)statistics, mathematics, or physics, or equivalent qualifications; (ii) knowledge of statistical theory and methods; (iii) experience with statistical software (SAS, STATA, or R); (iv) knowledge of the basic approaches used in clinical research and epidemiology.
Salary Range:
monthly gross salary € 2185 to € 3664
