Position Title: Post-Doctoral Researcher

Duties & Responsibilities: VCU’s Center for Biomarker Research and Personalized Medicine (www.pharmacy.vcu.edu/biomarker) is seeking a post-doctoral researcher with expertise in the analysis of high-dimensional biological data. Our Center aims to identify biomarkers to improve the understanding and treatment of psychiatric conditions and substance use disorders. Candidates should have a strong computational background with a PhD degree in bioinformatics, computer science, or related discipline. S/he will employ approaches to analyze genome-wide biological datasets that for an important part are generated (in-house) using next-generation sequencing of genomes, methylomes, and transcriptomes. Experience with Linux/Unix, automation of data analysis pipelines, and scripting languages such as R, PERL, and Python is important. Projects are highly multidisciplinary and interactive involving other center members plus external collaborators in the US as well as abroad. The Center is well funded and equipped, occupying a suite of state-of-the-art laboratories on the university’s MCV Campus. The position is initially for two years and offers ample opportunities for publishing articles and career development.
