Position Title:
Senior SAS Programmer / Analyst
Duties & Responsibilities:
Under general supervision, oversee all aspects of research-data collection and management, support the biostatistics group in preparing reports and analyses for clinical studies. Perform regular quality assurance audits to ensure fidelity between source data and electronic data, and consistency with study protocols. Review data form annotations and database data dictionary to ensure programming accuracy and efficiency. Utilize study protocols and statistical analysis plans to review and prepare analysis dataset specifications and analysis output displays. Write SAS programs to generate tables, listings, and figures and analysis datasets. Perform validation of the programmed analysis datasets, tables, listing and figures. Perform analyses defined in the SAP as well as ad hoc analyses as requested. Participate in the preparation of clinical and statistical summary reports. Perform statistical quality control of final reports. Assist biostatisticians in maintaining and meeting regulatory compliance and requirements. Assist biostatisticians in gaining process efficiency and standardization.
Position Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: A). Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Statistics or a related field. B). Experience: At least three years of full-time experience as SAS programmer/Analyst in the pharmaceutical/biotech and/or CRO industry or a clinical trial data coordinating center with demonstrated professional maturity. C). Knowledge: Proficiency in SAS programming with excellent knowledge of SAS environment; Proficiency in the use of basic and advanced SAS tools and procedures, e.g., SAS BASE, SAS/STAT, SAS/MACRO, PROC REPORT TABULATE, ODS, etc. Knowledge of Microsoft Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word computer programs. D). Abilities and Skills: Demonstrated ability to plan and organize assigned activities. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Ability to communicate with other departments to coordinate clinical study needs and make improvements to processes. Ability to set and adjust priorities in coordination with other Core faculty and staff. Ability to work both independently and as an actively participating team player. Capable of multi-tasking under demanding conditions in a dynamic environment. Must have critical thinking, communication, organizational, and planning skills. Self-motivated and enjoy the challenge of analyzing complex problems and independently developing possible solutions. Preferred Qualifications: Graduate level course work and research experience or degree in computer science/statistics/biostatistics or related fields. Experience working in a medical center setting or familiar with medical terminology. Information Technology knowledge and familiarity with SAS server function and data security. Experience and training in statistical data analysis.
