Position Title: Non Tenure Line – Research (NTL-R) Assistant Professor

Duties & Responsibilities: The Quantitative Sciences Unit (QSU) in the Department of Medicine at Stanford University seeks applicants for a Non Tenure Line – Research (NTL-R) Assistant Professor position. We will consider candidates who have a Ph.D. in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a related field. The major criterion for appointment for faculty in the non-tenure Line (Research) is evidence of high-level performance as a researcher for whose special knowledge a programmatic need exists. Their accomplishments during graduate and postgraduate training should already have stamped them as creative and promising investigators. There should also be evidence of the ability to obtain external funding.

Position Qualifications: The applicant should have an outstanding record of collaborating and providing statistical expertise on research studies , with an emphasis in applications relevant to investigators in the Department of Medicine. In addition, the applicant should demonstrate expertise in a methodological area that complements members of the QSU. We expect the successful candidate to engage primarily in collaborative research and to develop an independent research agenda in methods development directly stemming from collaborative work. Specifically, the candidate will serve as senior statistician on a variety of studies in areas including cardiovascular medicine and nephrology, which involves leading/mentoring junior statisticians as well as clinical investigators in research methods. The candidate should also demonstrate outstanding oral and written communication skills.
