Position Title:
Postdoctoral Research Scholar
Duties & Responsibilities:
The Department of Statistics at North Carolina State University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Scholar in human multi-tissue expression quantitative trait locus (eQTL) analysis, to support a statistical methodology research grant conducted jointly with Dr. Andrew Nobel at UNC Chapel Hill. The research also involves collaborations with a larger set of researchers analyzing RNA-Seq and genotyping data from a large, high-profile genomics project. This is an excellent project for a dynamic junior researcher to handle large, state-of-the-art genomics datasets that will help establish the connections among disease traits and genomic regulation in a variety of human tissues. The position will involve statistical model development, using existing R code, and developing new models for high-dimensional analysis of structured genomics datasets. This research scholar position provides full funding at a competitive salary for up to 2 years. The starting date is negotiable, and the position may begin as early as September 2013. The faculty supervisor for this position is Dr. Fred Wright, Director of the Bioinformatics Research Center.
Position Qualifications:
A PhD in statistics, biostatistics, computer science, quantitative genetics, or related field is required. Demonstrated expertise in high dimensional inference and (empirical) Bayesian analysis is preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are also important. Salary Range:
$45,000-$55,000
