Postdoctoral Position
Duties & Responsibilities:
The Harvard School of Public Health is seeking a Postdoctoral Research
Fellow to join the Department of Epidemiology. The successful candidate
will work on several collaborative genetic and genomic studies of
perinatal disorders including preterm birth, placental abruption,
preeclampsia and gestational diabetes being conducted by a
multidisciplinary team of scientists at Harvard University, Georgetown
University and the University of Washington. The successful candidate
will have opportunities to conduct genetic, genomic and proteomic data
analyses using existing and novel statistical and computational
methods. Projects may require extension of sophisticated statistical
methodology and/or development of novel statistical and computational
methodology for the analysis of complex high-dimensional data,
including high-throughput genomic and proteomic data, next-generation
sequencing data, and functional genomic data. The position is available
immediately. The initial appointment is for 12 months with possible
renewal for a second year subject to performance and funding
availability.
Position Qualifications:
Minimum requirements include a PhD in statistics/biostatistics/
bioinformatics/genetic epidemiology or other quantitative fields.
Individuals with the following skills are encouraged to apply:
excellent quantitative and applied research skills in methodology
development and data analysis, demonstrated proficiency in programming
language (e.g., C++, Java, Python) and statistical language (e.g., R,
Matlab), good bioinformatics knowledge of querying public genomic
databases, and strong oral and written communication skills. Experience
with biological datasets, or high-dimensional data and knowledge in
biology and genetics/genomics is preferred.
