Company Information: A two-year Postdoctoral Associate position for Comparative Effectiveness Research in cancer is available immediately in the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at Duke University located in Durham North Carolina.

Position Title: Postdoctoral Associate-Biostatistics

Duties & Responsibilities: The specific goal of the project is to conduct sophisticated statistical analysis using individual patient data assembled from clinical trials to evaluate relative efficacy of cancer treatments and to develop predictive models for disease progression and survival. This is a multi-disciplinary project involving investigators with expertise ranging from statistical methodology of comparative effectiveness analysis to cancer diagnosis and treatment of early lung cancer patients from Duke University, University of Chicago, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of Nebraska, and Mayo Clinic. The project will yield concrete results on optimal management of early lung cancer patients and more generally novel statistical methods for comparative effectiveness analysis. The new statistical methods developed from this project are expected to find broad application in comparative effectiveness studies of other medical conditions. The award of this grant indicates the significance of this area of research to the NIH’s National Institute of Aging and therefore has great potential for career-building. The responsibility of the postdoc is to develop statistical methodology and computing algorithms for comparative effectiveness analysis when clinical trial data are assembled from multiple sources. The postdoc is to conduct the statistical analysis of individual patients’ data and develop new statistical methods under the supervision of the principal investigators Dr Xiaofei Wang and Dr Herbert Pang. This position is available immediately and will be filled as soon as possible. Appointment will be made on a renewable, one-year contract with the expectation of a two-year term.

Position Qualifications: Candidates should have a PhD in Biostatistics/Statistics or a related technical field. Excellent training in statistical theory and prior experience in developing new statistical methodology work is necessary.
