Position Title:
Tenure Track Faculty Position
Duties & Responsibilities:
Teach undergraduate and master’s level students in statistics, computational statistics, analytics, probability theory and modeling, and (if applicable) biostatistics. The areas of application we seek are: Computational Statistics, Statistical Learning, Big Data, and (if applicable) Biostatistics. We are also seeking the ability to develop and teach online courses. In addition to teaching, all faculty have advising responsibilities, assist the Department with administrative and committee work, and are expected to assume campus-wide committee responsibilities. Faculty members teach, mentor, and advise an ethnically diverse student body. Faculty members maintain active research programs, oversee student research and consulting activities, and assist in preparing and administering the Comprehensive Examination for the MS degrees (given in Spring and Fall Quarters every year). Please note that teaching assignments at California State University, East Bay include courses offered at the Hayward, Concord and Online campuses.
Position Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Statistics or Biostatistics, preferably by June 2014, but in no case later than the effective date of the appointment. Candidates with successful teaching experience at the university level are preferred. The candidate must demonstrate satisfactory performance in the areas of teaching, research, scholarship, and/or creative activities and participate in service to the Department, the University, the profession, and/or the community. Demonstrated ability to teach, advise, and mentor students from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds. Additionally, applicants must demonstrate a record of scholarly activity.
