Company Information: VCU’s Center for Biomarker Research and Personalized Medicine (www.pharmacy.vcu.edu/biomarker) is seeking a post-doctoral researcher with interest/expertise in the analysis of next-generation sequencing data. The center aims to identify biomarkers to improve disease understanding and tailor medication use in individual patients. High-dimensional investigations where (hundreds of) thousands of genotypes, transcripts, methylation markers, and metabolites are measured simultaneously are considered powerful tools to achieve these goals.

Position Title: Post-doctoral Research position to analyze next-generation sequencing data

Duties & Responsibilities: S/he will employ approaches to analyze data that have been generated (in-house) by (next-generation) sequencing genomes, methylomes, and transcriptomes.

Position Qualifications: Candidates should have a strong computational background with a PhD degree in bioinformatics, computer science, or related discipline. Experience with alignment software, Linux/Unix, automation of data analysis pipelines, C++, and scripting languages such as R or PERL is important. The post-doc will work under the supervision of Dr. Van den Oord. Projects will be highly multidisciplinary and interactive involving other center members plus multiple external collaborators. The position is initially for two years and offers ample opportunities for publishing articles and career development.
