Position Title: Junior Biostatistician / Data Analyst

Duties & Responsibilities: Regular, Full-Time position with the Biostatistics & Data Management Core, John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM), located at the Kaka’ako Campus in Honolulu, Hawaii. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, and availability of funds. Under general guidance, the individual will provide data management and data analysis support and collaborations to diverse research projects; assist in report and paper writing, development of training materials, grant applications, and perform related tasks as assigned. Ability to work effectively with staff and administrators of various departments and organization, as necessary. Ability to set and adjust priorities in coordination with other Core faculty and staff. Ability to work both independently and as an actively participating team player. Ability to maintain highly sensitive, confidential material. Capable of multi-tasking under the demanding conditions in a dynamic environment. Must have critical thinking, communication, organizational, and planning skills. Self-motivated and enjoy the challenge of analyzing complex problems and independently developing possible solutions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Position Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: a. Education: Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Statistics or Biostatistics. b. Experience: At least one year of full-time data programming and analyses experience, with demonstrated professional maturity. Experience in interacting with multiple research investigators, and providing statistical support. In-depth experience with the statistical programming. c. Knowledge: Experience and background in the use of advanced biostatistical techniques applicable to biomedical research. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint computer programs. Excellent knowledge and skills of at least two statistical software packages, e.g., SAS, SPSS, R, STATA, etc. Training or experience in several of the following statistical related areas is needed: experimental design, multiple regression, longitudinal data analysis, survival analysis, logistic regression, categorical data analysis, clinical trials methodology, and bioinformatics data analysis. d. Abilities and Skills: Demonstrated ability to plan and organize assigned activities. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Ability to participate in the publication of research findings and grant writing. Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D.-level course work and research experience or degree in statistics, biostatistics, mathematics, computer sciences. Teaching experience. Experience working with large databases. Experience working in a medical center setting or familiar with medical terminology.
