The National Alzheimer's Coordinating Center was established by the National Institute on Aging (U01 AG016976) in 1999 to facilitate collaborative research. Using data collected from the 29 NIA-funded Alzheimer's Disease Centers (ADCs) across the United States, NACC has developed and maintains a large relational database of standardized clinical and neuropathological research data. In partnership with the Alzheimer's Disease Genetics Consortium (ADGC) and the National Cell Repository for Alzheimer's Disease (NCRAD), NACC provides a valuable resource for both exploratory and explanatory Alzheimer's disease research. NACC data are freely available to all researchers.
Position Title:
POSTDOCTORAL SENIOR FELLOWSHIP-BIOSTATISTICS
Duties & Responsibilities:
The Departments of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the University of Washington have one postdoctoral position available after July 1, 2013. The successful candidate is expected to work with the team of epidemiologists, biostatisticians, and computer scientists at the National Alzheimer’s Coordinating Center (NACC) to: 1. advise and contribute to statistical solutions raised by investigators at the 30 Alzheimer’s Disease Centers (ADCs) and other investigators associated with Alzheimer’s research efforts, 2. conduct methodological research and evaluate new statistical methods to solve problems in Alzheimer’s Disease research, such as those related to missing data in studies collected at multiple sites, and 3. promote collaborative research among the ADCs through research funding and technical support. This position may also involve other statistical research in regression analysis of skewed data, causal inferences for randomized trials with non-compliance, and ROC curve methodology. This appointment is intended for two-years, but is subject to satisfactory progress and the availability of funding. Position Qualifications:
PhD required in statistics, biostatistics, or mathematics. Strong theoretical, computational, and communication skills are desired.
