Position Title: Data Scientist

Duties & Responsibilities: Applications are being accepted for multiple Data Scientist positions within the Technology Development Practice of Exponent Inc. Primary technical efforts will focus on the development and deployment of statistical learning and decision analytic methodologies applied to large data and streaming data problems. Application areas include: risk assessment and performance analysis of advanced technologies; homeland security and defense; authentication and cyber security, energy systems modeling; and intelligence applications. 


Position Qualifications: Ideal candidates will have excellent analytic skills, outstanding problem solving abilities, broad knowledge of statistical learning methods, strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. A Ph.D., or equivalent level of experience, in statistics or a related field is required. Candidates must also be able to obtain a DOD top secret security clearance. Preference will be given to those with interests and experiences in one or more of the following areas: Bayesian methods, machine learning algorithms, anomaly detection and classification, variable selection, sequential statistical learning (especially SMC techniques), cyber security, and real-time spatial temporal analysis. Strong programming skills in C/C++/Java and proficiency with standard statistical packages (e.g., R) are required.
