Position Title: Postdoctoral Associate

Duties & Responsibilities: The Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at Duke University Medical Center is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to work with Dr. Yi-Ju Li on several collaborative genetic and genomic projects with investigators in the Department of Anesthesiology at Duke University Medical Center. There are several ongoing genome-wide association studies (GWAS) for clinical outcomes related to patients who underwent non-emergent coronary artery bypass as well as gene expression and proteomic projects. The Postdoctoral Associate will have hands-on opportunity to conduct real genetic and genomic data analyses, create analysis plans and summary reports, develop methodology for questions derived from these projects, and participate in manuscript writing. The work area for this position will be in the Center for Human Genetics (CHG). Duke CHG has a state-of-the-art computing system for human genetic studies as awell as high-throughput laboratories. The Postdoctoral Associate will have opportunities to interact with colleagues from both dry and wet labs. This position is available beginning May 16, 2013. Appointment will be made on a renewable one-year contract based on availability of continued funding and performance.

Position Qualifications: Candidates must have a PhD degree in statistics, biostatistics, or genetic epidemiology with some training in statistical genetics or genetic data analysis. Experience in GWAS is preferable. Candidate must have good communication skills, good bioinformatics knowledge of querying public genomic databases, and be proficient in UNIX system (e.g. sufficient knowledge of writing scripts), SAS, R, and C++.
