Position Title: Postdoctoral Associate

Duties & Responsibilities: The Department of Statistical Science at Duke University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate in statistical science. The Associate will have two primary responsibilities: (1) develop and implement Bayesian approaches to protecting the confidentiality of and handling missing values in large-scale, social science data, and (ii) develop and implement Bayesian approaches to accounting for uncertainty in record linkage settings. The Associate will be supervised by Jerry Reiter, associate professor in the Department of Statistical Science, and have the opportunity to interact and collaborate with faculty in Statistical Science, Economics, Political Science, and the National Institute of Statistical Science. The Associate will be funded by the NSF NCRN node at Duke University and will be part of a nationwide network of similar research centers seeking to improve federal agencies' statistical methodology and practice (see http://sites.duke.edu/tcrn/ for more). The Associate will be expected to participate in research leading to publications in top statistical and applied journals. The appointment will be for a one year contract with potential for up to two years renewal.

Position Qualifications: The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D. in statistical science or a related field and will have strong background in complex Bayesian modeling, computation in high dimensions, and an interest in social science/government applications. No previous experience in data confidentiality or record linkage methods is necessary.
