The Department of Epidemiology and Public Health (EPH) Division of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at the University of Maryland at Baltimore School of Medicine, in conjunction with the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Center (UMGCC) invites applications from seasoned senior biostatisticians to serve both as the Director of the Division of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics, as well as the Director of the UMGCC’s Biostatistics Shared Service. We are seeking a research leader with a track record of multidisciplinary biostatistics research in cancer—evidenced by productivity in collaborative and methodologic publication, as well as successful grant funding. Those with a primary interest in cancer informatics and/or with data coordinating center expertise are also encouraged to apply. Recruitment includes funding to promote faculty growth, reward productivity, and the potential to bring on additional faculty members.

Director, Division of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics and Director of the Biostatistics Shared Service (Position #: 03-307-119)
Duties & Responsibilities:
Division of Biostatistics & Bioinformatics: The position will be housed in the EPH Division of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics, which serves as the primary source of biostatistics expertise and collaboration at the University of Maryland, Baltimore and currently has 9 faculty members involved in research and teaching graduate students in the School of Medicine. The Department of Epidemiology and Public Health has six divisions with 51 full-time faculty members. The department is ranked first in NIH funding among departments of its type in public schools of medicine. The extensive basic and laboratory research capacity of the Greenebaum Cancer Center, the Institute of Human Virology, and the Institute for Genome Sciences at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and other research centers and programs in the School of Medicine and other schools at the University of Maryland provide extensive ground for collaborative research. The planned collaborative School of Public Health and collaborations in graduate education with sister campuses in the UM system also provide many opportunities for collaboration and expansion of the division’s size and scope of activities. UMGCC Biostatistics Shared Service: The most important credential from the perspective of the UMGCC is that the new Biostatistics Shared Service Director has vision and administrative skills, and that he/she recognizes the need to continue building a group with broad expertise in the increasingly diverse field of biostatistics and bioinformatics. The primary task is to provide expertise in innovative biostatistical methods used in clinical trials and clinical research generally.
Position Qualifications:
Requirements: Ph.D. (or equivalent) in the statistical sciences currently holding the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, with demonstrated leadership leadership ability and an interest in leadership development, are encouraged to apply.
