The Institute of Statistical Science of the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Tsinghua University
Company Information: The Institute of Statistical Science of the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Tsinghua University consist of statistics and probability faculty who conduct research in statistical methodology and applications in a wide range of disciplines, such as health sciences and finance. The institute has a close connection with the newly established Center of Mathematical Sciences and the Division of Bioinformatics. It offers PhD and MS degrees in statistics and an undergraduate statistical concentration. The core curriculum follows that of leading statistics/biostatistics departments in US. The institute aims at promoting high quality statistical and biostatistical education and research, and collaboration with scientists in other disciplines, e.g., medicine, public health, life science and finance. The institute has an outstanding statistics guest professor team whose members consists of leading statisticians in US, who have been involved in curriculum development, teaching, student supervision, and research collaboration with local faculty. Tsinghua University is one of the first few universities that was approved to offer statistics as the level one discipline in 2011 by the Chinese government and is committed to building a strong statistics and biostatistics program.

Position Title: Open Rank faculty positions, including tenure track or tenured positions in Statistics, and Biostatistics, with expected starting date in the fall of 2013. An early starting data may be possible.

Duties & Responsibilities: The position requires undergraduate and graduate teaching, thesis supervision, conducting statistical methodological research, with possibility of collaborative research. The recruited faculty will have opportunity to mentored and collaborate with the members of the guest professor team.

Position Qualifications: Applications have a PhD degree in statistics, biostatistics or related disciplines. Preference will be given to those who are strong in statistical methodological research with interest in applications, motivated, good communication skills and teaching ability.

Salary Range: Competitive salary. Commensurate with the level of appointment and experience.
