Position Title: Assistant Professor

Duties & Responsibilities: Assistant Professor The Division of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics in the Department of Public Health Sciences (DPHS) at the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine, located in Hershey, Pennsylvania, seeks applicants for a tenure-track faculty position in biostatistics at the rank of Assistant Professor. DPHS currently has 42 doctoral faculty members (tenure-track and non-tenure-track) and 10 masters level faculty members in three divisions: Biostatistics and Bioinformatics, Epidemiology and Health Services Research (http://www2.med.psu.edu/phs/). The Division of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics offers courses in the Department’s MS and MPH programs and also initiated a Biostatistics PhD program in 2012. Qualifications include a PhD or equivalent degree in biostatistics or statistics. The successful candidate should demonstrate (1) promise of developing into a strong researcher in biostatistics, (2) enthusiasm and effectiveness as a collaborator with biomedical researchers, and (3) excellence as a teacher. The opportunities for collaboration include research activities within the Division’s NIH-funded data coordinating centers and various Penn State Institutes, such as the Cancer Institute, the Heart and Vascular Institute, the Clinical and Translational Science Institute, and the Huck Institute of the Life Sciences. Applicants with expertise and experience in the design and analysis of clinical, basic science, and translational research studies are especially encouraged to apply. Those with two or more years of successful working experience in an academic medical center are preferred. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
