Position Title: Statistical Analyst II

Duties & Responsibilities: This position will support program evaluation and impact assessments. Within the Health Policy Research department, interdisciplinary research professionals are studying delivery system redesign initiatives using both quantitative and qualitative methods. The efforts are intended to improve the quality of healthcare for patients and the capacity of healthcare systems and organizations. Projects will include a study of healthcare redesign in primary and specialty care using "Lean" thinking and techniques, a community-based transitional care intervention for high-risk patients, support for nursing research, and other ambulatory and hospital based initiatives. "Lean" is a business philosophy with principles and techniques founded on respect for people and continuous process improvement. As part of PAMF's innovative efforts to improve healthcare quality and affordability, PAMF is one of the largest ambulatory care systems operating fee -for-service environment to implement and evaluate Lean methodology system-wide. Transitional care focuses on facilitating the patient's journey from hospital to home, reducing preventable readmissions, improving patient experience, and is a major priority for quality improvement and cost reduction among hospitals nationwide. We are seeking a dedicated, talented, Statistical Analyst II. This individual will support and be an individual contributor to studies including but not limited to, process improvement and transition of care. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, the statistical analyst will provide data analysis for internally and externally funded projects, support and lead data analytics for peer-reviewed journal publications and conference presentations, participate in data management activities, and assist with dissemination of findings. This individual will also support the preparation of grant proposals. A successful candidate will have strong attention to detail, capacity to work independently and as part of a team, interest in building multi-use processes and structures, and dedication to supporting large-scale organizational improvement.

Position Qualifications: REQUIRED: Master's degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Informatics, Bioinformatics, Mathematics, Economics, Health Economics, or related field; at least five (5) years in statistical analysis and programming; at least two (2) years experience querying and analyzing large, relational databases; at least two (2) years experience evaluating data quality and interrogating data independently; at least three (3) years experience authoring scientific journal manuscripts, internal reports, and other documents disseminating research results; ability to manage multiple projects; strong organizational, planning and problem solving skills; strong interpersonal skills and a team player; proficiency with the following software and languages: SAS 9.X (Base, Stat, Graph, Access) in Windows or Stata 10 (<5 years), SQL queries (>2 years), experience in automating processes through scripts and macros, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Access); excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills PREFERRED: Ph.D or Dr.P.H in Statistics, Biostatistics, Informatics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Epidemiology, or related field; experience in any of the following additional experience: experience with psychometrics including factor analysis, experience working in a data management, data delivery or software development setting, experience optimizing SQL queries and SAS programs, design of observational studies, randomized clinical trials, comparative effectiveness research, development of research proposals and statistical analysis plans, working on a research team with interdisciplinary professionals, interest in healthcare or health services research, experience in workplace requiring HIPAA compliance with patient data, experience automating processes through SAS macros and SQL scripts, any server administration experience, especially SAS servers; experience in any of the following additional experience: SAS Advanced Programming for SAS 9 Certified, SAS Enterprise Guide 4.X and JMP 7.0+, experience using Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop for retouching graphs and visuals, experience with version software (SVN) and knowledge management systems (Microsoft Sharepoint, wikis)
