Position Title:
Statistical Programmer
Duties & Responsibilities:
Job Summary: Designs and applies standard computer programs for statistical data collection, analysis, evaluation and graphical presentation. Creates customized computer programs for general use and specific projects. Develops and maintains code for emerging statistical techniques in one or more languages. Responsibilities: Under the direction of supervisor or mentor, drafts basic statistical program according to parameters and sample code; interprets biostatistics, epidemiological or general research results; assembles data from multiple sources, resolves data programs and performs general data management tasks. Other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications:
Ideal candidate will have excellent skills in both SAS and SQL programming (minimum 2 years’ experience), experience working with large/complex databases, experience in clinical research and data management, the ability to learn and assimilate new computer applications into data management practices as needed/desired, and excellent organizational and communication skills. The candidate will join a growing team of statisticians, programmers and clinical researchers on the QHS Anesthesiology team conducting perioperative medicine research. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field. Associates Degree and 2 years of experience may offset degree requirement. Knowledge of Web techniques and basic programming is preferred. Required Experience: One year of experience in systems administration, software and hardware support. Experience with statistical applications (e.g., SAS, R/S-PLUS, Stata) in a PC and/or mainframe environment. Demonstrated ability in areas of biostatistics/epidemiology/general research and/or database management. Experience in account administration, file server, print server, directory service and DHCP administration preferred.
